About Me

Jane's SNES Boxes / About Me

Hi, I’m Jane and I love collecting and playing retro games!

JaneI grew up as Luigi, yes, I was the younger sibling, player two. I used to sit for hours on my brother’s bed playing Super Nintendo games. Sometimes I would sit watching, waiting for my turn on games like Super Mario World, sometimes we would work together playing games like Turtles in Time and other times we spent hours competing against one another at Mario Kart and Super Tennis.

These gaming memories are happy ones. But one thing I always remembered my brother saying was how much he would have liked to have a full collection of Super Nintendo carts and how it would be great to have a library of Nintendo games.

When I was a little older, I saw some old Super Nintendo games in a charity shop – and they were only a fraction of the price I remembered them being when I was younger. I snapped them up and bought an old SNES off eBay. That’s when I started to make good on the things I used to talk about with my big brother all those years ago.

Over the years I have continued collecting SNES games and it’s been a lot of fun. But one thing that isn’t fun is the rising prices. Long gone are the days of picking up Super Nintendo games in charity shops or at car boots with your loose change.

Some games now go for over £1000 boxed and complete in good condition! What started off as a cheap hobby has become very expensive, even some cartridges on their own go for well over £100.

This leaves may collectors wondering how to display their games – after all, the dream is a fully boxed collection! So this got me thinking about reproduction boxes and during the Covid lockdown I had a lot of free time on my hands.

So I thought I would put the free time to good use and I began painstakingly recreating each and every PAL Super Nintendo box as accurately as I could as high-resolution print-ready files. So far, I have recreated nearly 200 boxes and I produce new ones each week in my spare time – they’re all uploaded here.

Each box is as very close to being a perfect reproduction, they only thing that is slightly different is the screenshots on the back are new high-resolution images as old scans tend to be a bit fuzzy. Each and every line of text has been carefully retyped, nearly every logo redrawn as a smooth vector file and the artwork is taken from high-resolution scans.

This is a labour of love – and I wanted to share it with other gamers. You can download all the boxes for FREE and they are all print ready.
